mindfulness was

UNTIL IT WASN’T

brands i’ve worked with

A man in a blue suit and glasses smiling at the camera, with cartoon clouds and a colorful background featuring yellow, orange, and red hues, and an orange badge with a white hand gesture and the text 'STEVE WARE'.

28 years in the corporate trenches, a pat on the back, and off you go…

“Steve, we’ll have to let you go.”

Hearing that after 28 years of service at IBM wasn’t easy.

I’d given everything since the age of 18, even reaching the point of burnout. And for what? A “Cheers, Steve” and a small payoff?

All that stress, pressure, and commitment … only to be left with next to nothing.

It hurt. I admit it. But the truth is, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

It fuelled my mission to help as many people as possible experience more peace and less stress. Why? Because I knew it would be the greatest gift I could ever give them.

Let me take you back…

“HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT TRYING MINDFULNESS, STEVE?”

You can [insert rude word here] off with that nonsense.

A blue spiky circular shape with two small oval black eyes and a pink banner across it that reads 'CENSORED' in bold black letters.

After 20 years in the corporate trenches, the cracks started to show.

I could barely sleep.

  • I was anxious all of the time.

  • My mood was low.

I knew these were signs of burnout.

A colleague asked me: “Have you tried mindfulness, Steve? It’s a huge hit with employees at Google.”

I was VERY cynical, to say the least. Is that meditating?

I don’t have time for that nonsense and it won’t do anything anyway, I thought.

But 1% of me was curious.

Could there be something to it if Google were so hot on it?

I secretly downloaded an app, and what happened next was incredible. Within a few weeks, my stress levels started to drop dramatically. I was calmer, less reactive at work, and started sleeping again.  My colleagues noticed.

“Can you teach us?” they begged. “We’re under the same pressure as you”.

I knew I couldn’t just give them some tips and leave it there. If I was going to truly help, I’d need to learn from the best in the world, and that led me to the University of Oxford with one simple goal:

To create a 6-week stress reduction course that would transform wellbeing at global businesses like IBM.  It’d have to be scientifically-proven and effective, but also fun, secular and achievable for people in high-pressure working environments.

And so it began.

A pink hand with black outlines is holding a blue three-dimensional dollar sign against a light yellow background.

The ROI was saving them hundreds of thousands a year.

The feedback I got from the very first course I ran at IBM made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. In fact it still does now.

Colleagues thanked me for lowering their blood pressure, reducing their stress, and improving their sleep. One manager even announced she was coming back early from long-term sick as a direct result of the course!

Soon we partnered with the University of Oxford, and IBM HR in the US sanctioned my programme as the first (and only) corporate approved mindfulness course.

I delivered countless sessions for the business, and LOVED IT. All was going great until COVID struck in 2020.

I was let go.

No job, little money, and very uncertain times. What would I do now?

Lowering employee stress, one business at a time…

The number of people in workplaces I knew struggling with low resilience, stress, anxiety, and poor sleep was staggering.

But they were barely getting time for a lunch break, so how would they have time to fit mindfulness in?

This is where I found my gap in the market.

Years of training people in the real world helped me shape my three core packages, which show people how to sprinkle ‘mindfulness confetti’ into their everyday lives without them feeling like they were doing it.

The lack of time no longer became an issue and a revolutionary approach to reducing stress, increasing productivity, and reducing absenteeism was born.
